Opal Marie (Dishman) Powers
Age 92, of Lakengren, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on February 21st, 1930, to the late William Howard and Dorothy Elizabeth Godby Dishman in Pulaski County, KY.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 52 years, Walter Robert Powers; two brothers, Kenneth and Paul Dishman; and her sister, Norma Dishman New.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (David) Thomas, Marsha “Karen” Powers and her husband Glenn Stubbs, Gail (Gary) Mercer; grandchildren, Amanda Thomas (Herschel) Elkins, Erin Thomas (Emre) Bektas, Jeremy (Sara) Stubbs, Carrie Stubbs (Sean) Vetrovsky; great grandchildren, Logan and Kinley Stubbs, Adie and Kai Vetrovsky; sister, Betty Dishman Tate; numerous nieces, nephews, and family who loved her dearly.
Opal was well known for her southern style cooking. She also enjoyed canning and was famous for her strawberry freezer jam. In her free time, you could find her quilting, reading the daily paper, or completing a word search puzzle. She was also an avid nature and animal lover. She loved to feed birds, squirrels, opossums and other wildlife on her property.
Services will be private to the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Humane Society, in honor of Opal Powers.
