Ella Jane (Gibson) Hissong

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Jane (Gibson) Hissong, who passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023, at the age of 89. Ella, who preferred to be called Janie, was born on December 4, 1933 in Hazard Ky. to the late Carl Gibson and Ethel (Smith) Gibson Young. She embraced life with a fantastic sense of humor, a deep love for her family,  and cherished her independence.

Janie is survived by her loving children: son Bud Combs and wife Connie of Eaton, Oh.; daughters Sheena Downing and husband Jim of Huber Heights, Oh,  Sheree Baldwin and husband Eddie of West Carrolton Oh,  Judy Meyers and husband Dave  of Arcanum Oh, and, Donna Bomford of Dayton Oh. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Clem of Union Oh, and brother Donald Young and  wife Theresa of Camden Oh.

She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Hissong; sister, Dianna Sue; brother, Roger Young; mother, Ethel Young; father, Carl Gibson; nephew Donnie Clem  and daughter, Theresa Howington.

 Janie was incredibly proud of her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among them are her grandson, Bill Puckett; granddaughter, Deanna Zinn; grandson, Steve Combs; and granddaughter, Jamie Fritz.

Janie's role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in spending time with family, taking trips and vacations, and celebrating her independence.

The viewing for Janie will take place on May 11, 2023, at Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00P.M. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00P.M with Interment at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and remember the remarkable woman Janie was.
