Richard E Karns

Richard E. Karns, age 89, of Eaton, OH, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, December 21, 2014. Born on August 16, 1925, he was a son of the late Ray and Myrtle (Stettler) Karns. Richard was a proud veteran, having retired from the United States Marine Corp as Staff Sgt, serving over 22 years. He served in WWII, Vietnam and the Korean War, and was proud to serve his country. After retiring from the USMC, he also retired from West Vaco in Dayton, Ohio. Richard was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Eaton Eagles #2202, Eaton Country Club where he loved to golf, the VFW and American Legion. He loved to bowl and play horseshoes, but most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by his parents: son Kenneth Collins: sisters Betty Niece; Joanna Pelling and Donna Gambill and brother Douglas Karns. Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley Ann (Lutz) Karns whom he married December 14, 1973: children Carolyn George, Diana Collins and Tracy (William ) Thompson all of Eaton, OH: siblings Marjorie Jordan of Eaton; Charles Ray Karnes of Wisconsin and Karen Door of Eaton: as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday December 27th 2014 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Friends may call on the family prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
