George Bussard Obituary

George W. Bussard, 85, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Farmersville, OH, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 following an extended illness. Born August 5, 1932 in Lewisburg, OH, he was a son of Charles W. and Elizabeth (Weaver) Bussard. George proudly served with the US Air Force from 1951 - 1955 during the Korean War, and continued his military service with the Ohio Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve for a combined 27 years of service, attaining the rank of Master Sgt. A farmer at heart, he farmed for 10 years in South Dakota. At one time he worked as a salesman and mechanic for Holtzmuller Tractor Sales in Farmersville. After working in various capacities with Walmart Corporation, George retired in 2015 from the Accounting Department of the Eaton store. A member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton and former member of the First Baptist Church in Germantown, he was also a member of American Legion Post 215 of Eaton. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, permanently mounting some on boards; had a vegetable garden for many years and could fix just about anything. George is preceded in death by parents Wesley and Elizabeth, granddaughter Nichole Bussard and brother Charles Bussard. Survived wife of nearly 66 years Phyllis (Howard) Bussard whom he married December 28, 1951; children David Bussard and wife Vicki of Farmersville, Susan Hartman and husband Ron of Farmersville, Ellen Phillips and husband David of N. Ft. Myers, FL, and Paul Bussard and wife Mitzi of Evansville, Wisconsin; grandchildren Andrea Hypes, Beth (Shane) Prier, Jonathan (Jennifer) Moore, Melinda Moore, Jason (Misty) Phillips, , Erik Phillips, Katie (Zachary) Hauser, Max Phillips, Danielle (Troy) Sauer and Jeni Bussard; 17 great grandchildren; brother and sisters Harry Bussard of Germantown, Wanda Hendricks of Naples, FL, Eva Huffman of Felda, FL and Judy (Paul) Howdyshell of St. Joseph, IL. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Pastor Andrew Stensaas presiding. Friends may call on the family from 2:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
