Evelyn Rose Yount

Evelyn Rose Yount, age 94, of West Alexandria, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday morning May 5, 2016 at Brookdale Assisted living facility in Englewood, Ohio. Born August 22, 1921 she was a daughter to the late Curtis and Bessie Jane (Simpson) Bates. Evelyn was a 1941 graduate of Ironton High School and went on to college at Ashland Kentucky School of Commerce as well as Miami Jacobs Business College. She spent 9 years as a clerk typist at Wright Patt Air Force Base, and won an award for not missing a single day of work while employed there. Evelyn also loved the Lord; was a member of the Eaton Nazarene Church and taught Sunday school for many years there. She was given the "Distinguished Service Award" from the church, which she treasured. She enjoyed crosswords, puzzles and had a love for making art; including chalk drawings. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: she will truly be missed. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Yount whom she married in 1950: infant daughter in 1952: grand-daughters Jessica Lee Murphy and Mindy Leis : siblings Drexel V. & wife Alma Bates; Earl Lee Bates and Curtis E. & wife Nancy Bates; baby brother in 1932 : son- in-law Glen T. Burton. Survived by children Donald Ray Yount of Eaton, OH; Diane Marie & Doug Murphy of Westerville, OH; Susan Kay Burton of Trotwood, OH: sister Vivian Jane & Wendell Kizzee of West Lake, OH: 5 grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren: and numerous other family and friends. Friends may call on the family from 6:00- 8:00 PM Monday May 9, 2016 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center, West Alexandria. Additional visitation Tuesday May 10, 2016 from 10:00- 11:00 AM with funeral service to follow at 11. Pastor Vickie Cundiff presiding. Burial Sugargrove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
