Emery R. Hughes

Emery Ray Hughes, age 74, went to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Monday, January 12, 2015 after a courageous 10 year battle with Prostate Cancer. Emery was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late Wilkison & Janet (Morehouse) Hughes on January 1, 1941. He was a business owner in the Trotwood/Drexel area for over 41 years and was a member of New Lebanon Church of the Nazarene. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, loved Nascar, and was an avid collector of Dale Earnhart/Nascar memorabilia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister Janice E. Steiner. Emery will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathryn Naomi (Howard) Hughes: son Glen Ray (Toni) Hughes of New Lebanon: daughter Angela Marie (Troy) Redinbaugh of New Lebanon: grandson, Zakary Redinbaugh; granddaughters Catherine Wilkinson, Lauren Redinbaugh, Elisabeth, Vanessa and Gabrielle Hughes all of New Lebanon. He is also survived by brothers Richard T. (the late Rosalee & Dorothy) Hughes of Dayton; Charles E. (the late Marilyn & Rosella) Hughes of Dayton; Marvin L.(Junie Piatt) Hughes of New Lebanon: sister Frances Pauline Harris of Dayton. Emery lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his courage and inspiration while fighting this disease. Even though he was sick, hurting, feeling down & out he always had a smile and a positive thing to say. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 State Route 35 - West Alexandria, Ohio. Pastors Thomas Clark and Stanley Daniels presiding. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
