Charles Shingledecker Obituary

Charles A. Shingledecker, 73, 1230 Holly Hill Drive, Greenville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 6, at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond, Indiana. He was born February 13, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, to Charles and Helen Shingledecker. Mr. Shingledecker graduated from Dayton Patterson Coop, received a track scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University undergraduate program. In 1970, he received a Masters degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Survivors include Brother Jerry Shingledecker and Sister-in-law Betty Shingledecker, and Nephew Charles "Chuck" Shingledecker of Solon Springs, Wisconsin. Mr. Shingledecker began teaching in Dayton, then moved to the National Trail School District serving as elementary and secondary student counselor 30 years. He coached numerous athletic teams as an avid sports enthusiast. Mr. Shingledecker known affectionately as "Jogger" or "Coach", participated in numerous Tri and Biathlons, as well as running and biking competitions. He enjoyed canoeing, fishing, mushrooming, and Standardbreds. Mr. Shingledecker owned and jogged trotters and pacers his adult life. Mr. Shingledecker's interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Madison Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. A grave side service is planned Saturday, September, 10th, at 11:00 am.
