Betty J. Witt, age 85, of Lakengren, Eaton, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning January 24, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Born in Irvine, KY, she was a daughter of the late James G., Sr. & Della (Curtis) Turpin. She worked from 1955 - 1966 in the Bindery Department of McCall's Publishing in Dayton. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Lakengren Ladies Auxiliary. Betty loved music and was a talented pianist. She often sang at weddings, was a wonderful seamstress and cook; enjoyed flower gardening; and was a very good fisherman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers and sisters Glendon Turpin, Lois Murphy, Lucille Webb, Harold Turpin and James Turpin. Survived by husband of 68 years Herman Witt, whom she married August 18, 1945: children Jerry Witt (Debbie) of Phillipsburg, OH; Gary Witt (Diana) of Lakengren; Kathy Campbell (Tom) of Lakengren: grandchildren Amanda Faulkner, Jason Campbell, Stacey Tibbs, Tyler Campbell and Bradley Witt: great grandchildren Kayla Campbell, Kelsey Campbell, Caitlin Faulkner, Braylen Witt, Hayden Moore, Madelyn Witt and Corinne Tibbs: sister Claire Portwood and brother Cecil Turpin both of Irvine, KY. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Betty's care givers from Heartland Hospice, Sherry Adkinson, Amy Knoll and Craig Moore; whose compassion and care mean more than words can express. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 pm Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH.
